The universal air valve is designed to permit the automatic escape of large quantities of air from a pipeline when the line is being filled, to permit air to enter the pipeline when the line is being emptied. It also allows accumulating air to escape while the line is in operation and under pressure. This is accomplished with a compound lever system functioning in conjunction with a large and small orifice in one integral body casting.
